Location: We have an opportunity for a NEC Service Manger to join our Customer Field Services Team at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. Could this be you? The role is a flexible hybrid arrangement, but your base location will be at our Head Office in Bradford. You will be expected to attend meetings in person as and when required.
Work type: Permanent. Our assets are operational 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The role is working 37 hours per week Monday to Friday within a window of 8am to 6pm.

Customer Field Services are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators.
In April 2025 we will be implementing a new Wastewater Services Agreement (WwSA) which is designed to help support delivery of several of our key AMP8 Performance Commitments, including those relating to both sewer flooding and pollution.
The NEC Service Manager will oversee the Wastewater Services Agreement (WwSA), which is an NEC4 Term Service Contract. The primary responsibility of the role is to ensure that both the Client (YW) and the Contractor meet their contractual obligations. This role directly supports the YW Strategy of A thriving Yorkshire; Right for customers; Right for the environment.
Where you fit in:
As a NEC Service Manager, you will:
- Fulfil all duties required of the Service Manager under the NEC4 Term Service Contract.
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations by both the Client and the Contractor.
- Administer the WwSA in line with the requirements of an NEC4 Term Service Contract (Option A), including responding to early warning notices and compensation events within the period for reply.
- Take all necessary actions to ensure YW is compliant with its obligations under the terms of the WwSA.
- Build relationships and adopt a collaborative approach to the management of the WwSA, seeking to resolve issues between YW and the Contractor amicably.
- Organise and lead meetings relating to early warning notices and compensation events.
- Provide assurance that all parties are working in accordance with the contract by requesting and reviewing documentation/evidence and agreeing on an assurance plan (in conjunction with the Commercial Investment & Vendor Manager).
- Work closely with stakeholders to collect and assess data for compensation events.
- Report to the Commercial Investment & Vendor Manager and escalate issues as needed.
- Provide coaching and support to other members of the CFS Vendor Management Team.
- Advise on the effective utilisation of the WwSA.
- Work closely with key stakeholders including Asset Planning (including Stantec), Commercial Services, CFS Operations, and the WwSA Service Partner.
- Contribute to the YW Strategic Pillar of Improving asset health by ensuring proactive and reactive work on the wastewater network is completed in line with Wastewater Service Agreements (WwSA) requirements.
- Provide coaching and development of colleagues to create resilience and enable succession planning.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to reduce silo working and achieve sustainable outperformance through knowledge sharing and innovation.
- Seek advice from others in the business (e.g., Commercial Services/Legal) and, where necessary, commence the contractual dispute resolution process.
- Undertake tasks required for the successful administration of the contract, including issuing, and receiving formal communications via the Clients selected contract administration system.
- Provide guidance and advice to colleagues within Wastewater on how to utilise the WwSA to deliver strong, efficient operational performance and minimise cost.
- Work alongside the wider CFS Vendor Management Team and Commercial Services to review Contractor applications for payment to ensure all costs claimed are valid under the terms of the WwSA.
- Hold meetings with the Contractor to discuss any matters pertaining to the successful operation of the WwSA.
What skills, experience & qualifications you will need:
- Experience of working with NEC contracts, particularly within the water industry.
- Strong understanding of contractual obligations and compensation event assessment.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with stakeholders at different levels of seniority.
- Proven ability to coach and support team members.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to escalate issues appropriately.
- Knowledge of wastewater network operations, common failures, and repair methods would be desirable.
- Demonstrates relentless drive, energy, and determination to deliver sustainable outperformance for Yorkshire Water.
- Strong communicator, both written and verbally.
- Effective problem-solving skills to resolve and mediate issues.
- Comfortable working independently and taking the initiative.
- Effective management of contract partners, including the reviewing and use of KPIs to drive performance.
You would also benefit from having:
- A relevant contract management qualification (e.g., NEC) would be desirable.
- Programme/project/contract management experience, preferably gained within a regulated environment.
- Knowledge of wastewater network operations, common failures, and repair methods would be desirable.
- Experience of driving sustainable performance against challenging business targets.
- Previous experience gained within the water or wastewater sectors or within the broader utilities, process, or manufacturing industry sectors.
